    Allergen Aware
    Posted on 09/19/2019
PeanutsAllergen Aware - As a school, we can be ‘allergen aware’.  We cannot be a nut free school, or have a nut free classroom.  The rationale for this decision is we cannot guarantee that an environment (the classroom, the lunchroom) is free of allergens.  We do not inspect lunches, nor can we tell a parent how to feed his or her child.  For students that eat at the nut-free table, we cannot guarantee what food students eat there. We don’t inspect or supervise what parents give their children to eat.  I am in the process of providing each classroom teacher with an ‘allergen aware’ poster that can placed by the classroom desk.  If you have individual questions or concerns, please contact me smjonas@seattleschools.org; 206-252-4617
