    Dear Hazel Wolf K-8 Families,

Welcome to the upcoming 2020/2021 school year at Hazel Wolf K-8! We’re excited about our outstanding
E-STEM program we have developed and we continue to build on our accomplishments. We currently have 750 students assigned for the 2020/2021 school year. This means we will continue to have three classrooms at every grade. If your child has any special needs we should be aware of when making placements, please let me know via e-mail or if you have more to discuss, we are happy to set up a meeting.

At this time, we are unsure of what our return to school will look like. Although I highly doubt it will look “normal”, we will proceed as though it was. Please mark your calendars for an Open House on August 27th, with a start of school on September 2nd.

    For Kindergarten Families
Jump Start for Kindergartners – will be held August 17-21, from 9:00 – 12:00. This is a week, long, free, half-day experience for the students to learn about their new school. They will become familiar with other kindergarteners, teachers, and regular school day activities.

Another item to note is that in the fall, kindergarten students will not start until the second week, September 8th. During the first three days of school (September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) each kindergarten student will come in with his/her parent or guardian to meet with the teacher in order to get to know each other better and to conduct initial start of year assessments. The family visit assignments will be given on Friday of Jump Start, and the visits are for the entire family, not just kinder and parent.

    For Middle School Families
The elective choice form must be returned by May 22nd if you would like priority on electives. The permission form needs to be approved by a teacher if the student would like to work as a T.A.

    Parent Sponsored Opportunities To Connect
Our PTSA actively supports the school and provides many opportunities for families to get involved and get connected. Please take a look at the PTSA website for more info or stop by the PTSA table at the E-STEM celebration to find out more. Watch our website for opportunities to meet up with other families throughout the summer.

Our school office is currently closed and will not reopen until August 10th when our administrative secretary returns to work. At that time, you will be sent grade level welcome letters, and additional information about the start of school. Supply lists will be emailed to all families, and posted on our website by the middle of June. If you have any questions this spring, or over the summer please email me at dnelsen@seattleschools.org. Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you and your child in August at our Open House.

    Sincerely,

    Deborah Nelsen, Principal
