6. Get involved! Volunteer! We are looking for more folks to get involved and support some of
the PTSA’s wonderful programs. Most immediately, we are looking for a volunteer who wants
to learn about spirit gear and train with our spirit gear lead. Also, we need a volunteer to lead
our staff appreciation efforts. If you have some creative ideas and organizing skills, please let us
know. More details and contact info can be found here: https://hazelwolfk8.org/volunteer
7. Black Lives Matter at School – This is a little different this year, in addition to a week of lessons,
it is a "year of purpose". Please encourage staff to look at the self-reflection questions (located
on the year of purpose page) and review the starter kit from last year (this was printed out and
provided to every staff member, it is also linked below). The 13 guiding principles are the same
as last year. The first action is October 14 and is focused on the principle of restorative justice.
October 14th: Justice for George Day
*Principle: Restorative Justice
*October 14th is George Floyd’s Birthday. Justice for George is a day to remember him
and call for the defunding of the police and the redirecting of those funds towards
social programs and education.
