Jan 03, 2022 Weekly Bulletin

Upcoming Dates:
Jan 3 Non Instructional Day – No school for students
Jan 7 Buddy and Spirit Day (Stripes and Polka Dots)
Jan 17 No School – MLK Day

There is NO school on Monday so staff can be tested and prepare for any possible remote learning. Plan to attend on Tuesday unless you hear differently. Classes and schools will move remote when a classroom would benefit instructionally by being online (meaning majority of the class is at home), or in a situation where we can’t staff classrooms.

There is NO device pick up on Monday, we will send them home on Tuesday.

  1. Minecraft on Student Laptops – In January all access will be removed to this program as it is interfering with students working in the classroom.
  2. K-5 Lunch – We will continue to eat inside as the weather becomes even colder, and most students have been able to receive their second vaccination. With the new variant it is even more important to have assigned seating so we can conduct contract tracing if needed. One thing we have noticed is that students in 3rd-5th have slowly started drifting back outside and not just because their parents requested it, but because they want to be with friends. Starting after break, those eating outside will also have an assigned place to sit so we can contact trace out there also. We are also asking that you contact Ms. Nelsen again, if you want your child to remain outside, no matter what the weather is.
  3. Chipotle Dine Out Fundraiser – Thanks to those who mentioned Hazel Wolf K8 when ordering their burritos on December 14th. The event raised $532.24 for the PTSA.
  4. Black Lives Matter at Hazel Wolf Spirit Gear Sale – The sale is scheduled for January 5-9th so be on the lookout for info in kidmail. Our goal is to have kids outfitted by January 31st and in time for the first week of Black Lives Matter at School week.
  5. Playground Access – Some of you have wondered about the ability to access the playground now that the strictest Covid rules have changed. The playground is closed during the week until 6 pm because of our Daycare and After School Programs. On the weekend the custodians should be leaving the gate by the climber open so it can be accessed.
  6. Middle College HS Virtual Open House – Below is a link to the Middle College High School Virtual Open House- January 10 @ 5:00. Middle College Open House
  7. Join the Racial Equity Committee (REC) —Our goals are focused on helping students and families of color and those who are furthest from educational justice (intersectionality with race, ability, language, gender, socio-economic status, etc). We’d like to recruit more Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) for the committee. With this help we can continue to support Student Equity Teams, host listening sessions for BIPOC, help BIPOC access vaccines, and host groups so white people can focus on strengthening their anti-racist skills. The Community of Practice for White Women meets twice a month on Sundays at 7. The Community Practice for White Men meets twice a month on Tuesday nights. To learn more or join the REC, email ptsa_rec@hazelwolfk8.org.
