Hello, as expected there are many questions regarding when or if we will go remote. We will remain on the edge of possible remote teaching for at least the next month. However, it appears that this is much more of a building decision, in collaboration with our director, than we previously thought. With that being said, our goal is to stay in person as long as possible. The two reasons for putting a class/school into remote would be if we are running into safety issues, with not enough staff to support, or if it would be beneficial instructionally. This might mean moving to remote sooner at the lower grades where they can’t learn on their own from home very well, and much longer at MS where kids are typically better able to complete their work independently. These will be individual discussions with teachers and teams as cases come up. One great thing to note is that although we are seeing 10-12 staff absences a day at this time, everyone has been extremely flexible, we have some amazing subs, and we are covering the core classes we have to! I believe because of our resources available, we are in much better shape than many other schools.

  • Join the Racial Equity Committee (REC) —Our goals are focused on helping students and families of color and those who are furthest from educational justice (intersectionality with race, ability, language, gender, socio-economic status, etc). We’d like to recruit more Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) for the committee. With this help we can continue to support Student Equity Teams, host listening sessions for BIPOC, help BIPOC access vaccines, and host groups so white people can focus on strengthening their anti-racist skills. The Community of Practice for White Women meets twice a month on Sundays at 7. The Community Practice for White Men meets twice a month on Tuesday nights.
