Nov 14, 2022 Weekly Bulletin
Posted: | Updated:
Dear Families, this was a difficult week in our community. On Wednesday morning I met with staff, and we discussed how we were feeling after the Ingraham shooting the day before, and how we would address it with the students. At the younger grades we decided to only discuss it if it was brought up, and at the older grades we intentionally started the morning with 1st period community circles to allow students to talk about how they were feeling. At lunch on Friday, we had a poster for kids to write messages to the Ingraham community saying Hazel Wolf K-8 was holding them close to our heart. Thank you for helping your students through this time.

1.Read-a-Thon: The 2022 Read-A-Thon starts on Monday, November 14! The read-a-thon challenges students to read as many books as they can between Nov.14-26th. It encourages a love of reading while also being a fundraising event. Friends and family pledge a dollar amount for each minute read. Prizes will be awarded for top readers, top fundraisers and participants, including free pizza, free tickets to Wild Waves, and more. Packets will be sent home on Monday in KidMail. Learn more: https://hazelwolfk8.org/read-a-thon/ [hazelwolfk8.org]
2.November Staff Appreciation – Pie Day: Let’s show our staff how appreciative we are of everything they do for our kids! Buy or make a pie to donate for the staff, tutors and interns to take home. Drop off November 17th or 18th in the staff lounge. We will NOT have refrigeration space. We need 91 pies if we want everyone from our staff to receive a pie. Sign up to donate here: Hazel Wolf: November Staff Appreciation (signupgenius.com)
3.Upcoming Giving Drives: Thank you to everyone who donated a gift card for the Coat Drive. Family Support will also be holding Giving Drives before Winter Break and Mid-Winter Break to provide food to families over these longer breaks. Any gift cards remaining after meeting all coat
requests will be used for Family Support. Thank you to our generous Hazel Wolf community for
your ongoing support of these programs.
