New Information

1. Picture 1Day Help Needed – We need at least 4 volunteers to help with MS picture day on October 19th. If you are interested, please reach out to Mrs. Jackson at yljackson@seattleaschools.org.

2.Class Pictures – These will be scheduled for after winter break. 

3.Community Covid Update – SPS is excited to continue partnering with the Washington State Department of Health and Health Commons Project to offer free COVID-19 testing at every SPS building. The SPS COVID-19 testing program is focused on preserving in-person learning and reducing barriers to testing for students, families, and staff. Timely access to testing helps reduce lost days of in-person instruction.

Point of Care (POC) rapid antigen and PCR tests are now available at the PHCR for all with consent on file.  iHealth home tests can continue to be provided as needed to all students or staff.

4.Veteran’s Day Family Slideshow – There will be a slideshow sharing photos of Military Veterans from student families at the Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 9th. If you have a military veteran in your family, and you’d like to share their photo, please send the digital photo file to Ms. Ferguson on or before November 4th: bjferguson@seattleschools.org; and please include the following information: Family Member’s Name, Branch of Military, Relationship to Student, Student’s Name and Grade. Further details about the assembly coming soon!

5.Engineering Supplies Needed – Duct tape, wooden skewers, 12 and 16 oz cups, rubber bands, straws, foil, and plastic wrap.  Please have your child place materials in the Engineering box outside Room 204 (or give it to Ms. Armbrust or Ms. Peterman).  Thank you!

6.Middle School MESA – The First MESA Club Meeting is Monday the 17th from 3:30 – 5:30 pm in Ms. Ferguson’s Room!.  Hope to see you there.

7.Older Elementary Students – We want to remind parents that just like the MS students, electronics and phones are not allowed out during the day.  This includes Apple watches that are being used to text and take pictures, and students will be asked to put them in their backpack at the start of the day. 

8.Lost and Found – Our piles are getting bigger and bigger.  If you are missing items, you might want to come check it out.

9.Show Choir is off to a great start! Please use the School Pay or request scholarship by this week if you have not already done this. (Participants only.) We are putting our shirt orders in on Monday.

10.3rd-5th Recorders are on the way! If your child wants to get started early, they can check out a school recorder for home to start practicing now.

11.Save the Date – Our Elementary Show Choir will be singing at the James Baldwin Barnes and Noble on December 10th for a fundraiser and to bring joy to our community. Flyers will come out soon with instructions for how to support our school in this event.

11.It’s time to register for Session 2 of Hall of Fame Team Camp After School Programs!

Hall of Fame Team Camp provides on-site after-school childcare and enrichment to Hazel Wolf families. Session 1 ends on Friday, October 28th and Session 2 kicks off on Monday, October 31st.

Families may choose from Hall of Fame-led or partner-led classes:

Hall of Fame: Domino Toppling, Magic: The Gathering, Coding Kidz, Lego Mania, Arts & Crafts, Gaga Ball, Choose Your Own Adventure

Partners: Hazel Wolf Fiddlers, Kids’ Carpentry, Cardboard Engineering, Chess Club, Hip Hop Kids

13.PTSA General Meeting: October 26th: Please join us from 6:30-8:00 in the Cafetorium for our first PTSA general session of the year. Michelle Swan will be our guest speaker discussing Self Care Practices. In addition, we will be reviewing our PTSA calendar with exciting upcoming events, open board positions and how you can be more involved in our school community. We will also talk about the benefits of PTSA membership and volunteering in the school building. We can’t wait to see everyone gathered in the cafetorium for an evening of community building.

James Baldwin CC staff is offering an opportunity to assist you through the process of filling out our new 2022-2023 scholarship application. Anyoen that may be seeking financial assistance for our upcoming winter and future program is invited. We have scholarhips available for all ages!

Important financial paperwork that you must bring with you. Everyone must submit thier 2021 1040 tax form for income verification and proof of dependency. Below are examples of proof of dependency: birth certificate, dependent is listed on 1040 tax form, school registration, if 1040 doesn’t apply, please submit a WESD form.

Winter Program opportunities:

  • Youth Basektball League (ages 8-11)
  • Youth Ballet and pre Ballet (ages 3-10)
  • Youth ARt Classes (ages 7-10)

1.Fundraising through Amazon Smile and Box Tops – Want to help raise money for our school?!

Here are a couple super easy ways:

Funds raised are used to support tutors, outdoor learning, science-based enrichment, programming scholarships and much, much more!

2.Back to School Skate Party – Back to School Skate Party is Friday October 21st 5pm-7pm at Lynnwood Bowl & skate! We have the skating rink reserved for Hazel Wolf students, staff & friends. $8 for skates & $12 for inlines. Hope to see you there.

3.Red Robin Dine Out Night — Order dinner from the James Baldwin Red Robin on Thursday, October 20th from 4-7 pm and help raise money for our school. 

Dine in during those hours and mention Hazel Wolf K8 PTSA to your server. Or for to-go orders and follow these instructions:

In the menu, go to the category labeled “Fundraisers”

Open “Spirit Night (To-Go) Fundraiser.”

Add Hazel Wolf K8 PTSA to the Special Instructions in the Spirit Night item, then add it to cart. Note: if you add the item prior to entering your information, you can still edit it from your cart.

Add your meal items and check out.

Arrive at Red Robin, pull into a pickup spot and call the phone number on the sign. A Team Member will bring your order to your car. 

4.Hazel Wolf Ski Swap November 5th – The time for the ski swap will be 11am-4pm, and we will have vendors on site selling new ski and snowboard gear, as well as new and gently used winter apparel. Get ready to get outfitted for winter and help raise money for our school! Skis, boots, hats, jackets, gloves, and more!

We know everyone has gear from last year that your kiddos outgrew! We are looking for gently used winter gear that Hazel Wolf families would like to consign. Consignment drop off is available Thursday 11/3 and Friday 11/4 from 3pm – 5pm outside the main HW entrance.
