Message from Dr. Breuder:

Guest assistant principal: We have a guest administrator joining the Hazel Wolf staff for the remainder of the year, as Mr. Winston (Assistant Principal) will be on family leave through the end of June.  Dr. Brian Hutchison is joining the team starting on Monday, April 28th.  Dr. Hutchison has extensive experience in teaching and leadership, and we are looking forward to him filling in for Mr. Winston.  Please help welcome Dr. Hutchison to the Hazel Wolf community!

Spring testing: This week students in grades 3-8 will participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) for reading and math.  Teachers have communicated the testing schedule directly with classes.  Testing will take place in the mornings this week.

Multicultural Night: Please join us Thursday, May 1st, from 5:30-7:30 pm in the covered play area. Let’s gather to share a meal and celebrate our community and its many different cultures. Please bring a dish to share or share something that is special to your family, culture, or heritage, including cultural clothing.  Come enjoy good food, good conversation and even some entertainment!

Yearbooks: Order your 2024-25 Hazel Wolf K-8 Yearbook now through May 1, 2025!  The cost per yearbook is $21.00 plus tax. Middle School News:

Spring Musical: Thank you to Mr. Franklin, the cast and crew, and all the volunteers for putting on the amazing performances of Legally Blonde, Jr! I was out of town this weekend, so I was unable to attend any of the performances, but I did hear fantastic remarks from others about the shows! (From Ms. Eckert: Sixty minutes of clever lines and smart performances with snappy music and choreography!) Thank you to all involved and all who attended and supported the shows!

Middle School Sports Update:

We are in full swing for games.  Come support Hazel Wolf K8!

Plastic Film Recycling Drive continues through the end of this school year! Bring your collection of thin, stretchy plastic film (think grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, plastic mailers) at drop-off on Friday to recycle. Alternatively, please drop them in the Ridwell bin by the school entrance anytime. Learn what types of plastic film can be accepted.

See the impact of our school recycling efforts! Watch this 5-minute presentation from the Ridwell team and learn how your donations of collected materials are contributing to saving millions of pounds of materials from landfills. When 10 families sign up for Ridwell doorstep pick up by May 23rd via https://get.ridwell.com/hwk8, our school will earn plastic film pickup ALL next year!

TerraCycle School Recycling Drive ends April 30th: There’s still time to help keep those hard-to-recycle household products out of landfill – toothpaste tubes, snack pouches, home care bottles, and more! Please bring your items by the end of 4/29, making sure to put them in the correct bins by the school entrance. Check what can be collected here. If you have questions, please email estem@hazelwolfk8.org.
