Message from Dr. Breuder:
It’s been another busy week at Hazel Wolf! It’s been great seeing our community engaged in learning and continuing to build community. This week I also took my son, Dante, back to college. He didn’t go far, as he is as the University of Washington, but it is still a significant change in our household. As he starts his second year at the UW, we are well underway at Hazel Wolf as we enter the fourth week of school. September is always a busy, but fun month!
Lunch & recess volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to help with lunch and recess supervision. Please let me know if you are interested in helping with lunch and/or recess supervision.

Traffic reminders: Please help keep our community safe by following the flow of traffic at drop-off and pickup. Please also help us keep good relations with our neighbors by slowing down on the surrounding streets.
Additionally, you will see Safety Patrol members start this week. They will be on the corners helping keep our students and families safe as they go to and from school. Welcome, Safety Patrol!
Hispanic Heritage Month: National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15-October 15 to give recognition to the Hispanic and Latino history and culture, as well as the many contributions made to United States history and culture by the Hispanic American communities

Message from Nurse Marissa:
Please see the attached letter from Nurse Marissa with important school health information.
Also, SPS is partnering with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association (SVNA) to provide vaccine clinics for the public starting Friday, Sept. 19.
SVNA is offering flu vaccines to anyone age four to adult; and COVID-19 vaccines to anyone age five to adult. These clinics require insurance (most insurance accepted) or payment.
Visit the SPS Vaccine Clinic webpage to learn more and book your vaccine appointment.

K-5 English Language Arts Adoption process is well underway. The committee will begin its review of all submitted proposals on Saturday.
At the same time, our district community is invited to take part in an important opportunity to provide feedback on potential resources to be used for K-5 English Language Arts (ELA) instruction in our schools.
Community Review Round One opens from Sept. 13 through the close of business on Sept. 26. Staff, families and community members are encouraged to participate. Surveys are translated into the top five languages.
While there are several instructional materials proposals under consideration, interested parties can review as many or as few as time permits. Every response supports the committee’s recommendations.
To participate, please visit the K–5 ELA Curriculum Adoption Website and look for the section titled “ Curriculum Review – First Round.” There, you’ll find content sent by vendors to provide information about their materials and methods, and a short survey to share your feedback.
