Message from Dr. Breuder:
It’s been great being back at school! This last week was full of our community getting back into the routines of school. 😊 This upcoming week will be busy, as well. We will have two Martin Luther King, Jr. Day assemblies, one on Wednesday for Middle school, and one on Friday for elementary. Thank you, in advance, to the ASB Council for running these assemblies.
Outdoor Education update: Mt. Rainier Institute (MRI) is a program that Hazel Wolf 8th-graders have participated in for many years. Funding cuts have impacted MRI programming, and we are no longer able to send students to participate in that program. We know this is disappointing for our students, but please know we are working on finding alternate experiences for students to participate in for next year and moving forward.
Enrollment info: This last weekend Mr. Winston and I represented Hazel Wolf K-8 at the SPS Admissions Fair at John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence. We met with many prospective families at this event. We are holding an evening tour at Hazel Wolf this week on Wednesday, January 14th, at 5:30pm. Additionally, the Hazel Wolf ML Department hosted an enrollment night last week. Thanks to the team for providing support for our ML families in navigating the enrollment process. Please note that the open enrollment window for school choice is currently open and closes January 31st.
This week students and staff will participate in a Lockdown Drill. Teachers will go over these procedures with students in advance of the drill. These are one of the important safety drills that we practice throughout the year.
BIPOC Community Connection Night: The PTSA is sponsoring a BIPOC Community Connection Night on Thursday, January 15th, from 6:30-8:00pm. Dinner and childcare will be provided for this event.
Class picture day: Each class will participate in class pictures on Thursday, January 29th. Middle school students will take grade-level pictures on that day, as well.

Join the PTSA as a voting member! Everyone – parents, caregivers, extended family, community members – is encouraged to join the PTSA. Membership does NOT commit you to attending meetings or volunteering. Our goal is to have at least one family member join the PTSA for each student, so we can continue to align our budget and initiatives to our community’s needs.
