Message from Dr. Breuder:
What a wonderful week at Hazel Wolf! A special thank you to our ASB Officers and Leadership class for planning the Middle School Day dance last Friday. It was great to see our middle school students enjoying time together in a social setting that was welcoming and accessible to all students. Creating opportunities for connection, belonging, and fun is such an important part of the school experience, and we appreciate the student leadership that made this event possible!
I hope everyone remembered to turn their clocks back today as we transitioned out of Daylight Saving Time. I hope you were able to enjoy that extra hour of rest!
This next week, we will welcome visiting educators from Broadview-Thomson K-8 and B.F. Day Elementary to Hazel Wolf. They are conducting learning walks as we continue our collaborative work to align literacy practices across schools. These opportunities to learn from one another strengthen our instructional practices and support greater consistency in literacy instruction for students across Seattle Public Schools. A special thank you to our Kindergarten team for opening their classroom doors and welcoming these visiting educators. We appreciate your willingness to share your practice and learning with colleagues!
Fall Conferences
Fall conferences are coming up, and we want to make sure every family has an opportunity to connect with their child’s teacher(s).
- Middle school families: Please be sure to sign up for a time to attend an arena conference. Middle school students are welcome to attend with their families, but their participation is not required.

- K–5 families: Classroom teachers will be sending out conference schedules and sign-up information directly. Please make sure to sign up for a conference time so we can partner together to celebrate your child’s growth, discuss their learning, and identify ways to support their continued success. We look forward to connecting with you!
Upcoming Events & Reminders
- Thursday, November 5 – Interrupting Hate Speech Training, 5:30 p.m. Our PTSA is sponsoring this important training for families and community members. Dinner and childcare will be provided. We hope you will join us for this opportunity to learn together and strengthen our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community.
- Friday, November 6 – Picture Retake Day. Students who need a retake or missed the original picture day will have an opportunity to have their photos taken.
Thank you, as always, for being such an engaged and supportive school community. I am grateful for the many ways our students, staff, and families contribute to making Hazel Wolf a place where everyone can learn, connect, and belong.
Volunteering at Hazel Wolf:

Interrupting Hate Speech
Join parents and teachers this Thursday November 5th at 5:30 in the library for an opportunity to learn how to recognize and interrupt hate speech. Families will learn the same tools and strategies our students and staff have been learning. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels safe and supported. Dinner and childcare will be provided.
RSVP here or email president@hazelwolfk8.org if you need a link to attend virtually.

Hazel Wolf ESTEM Quest: Our Fall Fundraiser kicks off in one week! Look for your student’s 16-task worksheet and Parent Guide in their KidMail this week. Get a head start and set up your online fundraising page for your student – It takes less than 1 minute to create your page. From Nov 2-13, students can participate in tasks on their ESTEM worksheets, while family and friends make financial pledges on our Zeffy page to cheer on their efforts. 100% of the tax-deductible donations will go directly to PTSA Teacher Grants. We can’t wait to see our little ones become eco heroes and start their sustainability journey! Also consider signing up to help with activities or prize distribution throughout the 2 weeks.
Spirit Gear Fall Sale: Spirit Gear Fall Sale is going on now! Check out new merch and sale items, and place your orders online here. All orders DUE by Tuesday, November 3rd. Orders will be delivered to classrooms the week of December 7th, in time for the holidays! Proceeds benefit the PTSA fundraising.
