Message from Dr. Breuder:
Happy almost-April! It is hard to believe the month of March is coming to a close….I do love this time of year when the weather starts changing. As someone who grew up in the Pacific NW, I am used to the rather erratic weather we can have in the spring, with fluctuating temperatures and weather patterns. That said, it is beautiful and am always happy to see the spring flowers and colors.
This last week we had a Women’s History Month assembly, which was also a spirit day. It was great to have the entire K-8 school together in one space.
I was able to spend a couple of days in the middle school STEM-lab class, as staff were invited to be judges on their version of Shark Tank. What a fun way to see the inventions that students came up with in this class!
This week we send our 5th-graders off to Nature Bridge for their overnight outdoor education experience. Thank you to the 5th-grade teachers for planning this trip and thank you to the parent chaperones for all your help! We are sending good-weather-vibes your way as you head off to Nature Bridge!
Middle School News:
Band & Orchestra Showcase is Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00pm! Come see the wonderful work our musicians have been working on with Ms. Jordan!
Middle School Sports Update:
Please turn in your basketball jerseys to Ms. Traci if you haven’t already!
Looking to fall sports we will be needing an Ultimate Frisbee Coach. If interested let us know.
Schedules are still not released yet; we will update families and the website as soon as they are.

PTSA Announcements and Events
Neurodiversity, Autism, and Early Development, April 10th, 6-8pm, Cafetorium: April is Autism Awareness Month, and we’re delighted to present this PTSA-sponsored educational event for caregivers and teachers of Hazel Wolf and area schools. Join University of Washington Autism Center Director Annette Estes, Ph.D., and John Ketchum, M.Ed., BCBA for a presentation on autism diagnosis, developmental differences in autistic children, and neurodiversity. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss how to support neurodivergent students. This event is free, but please RSVP via https://tinyurl.com/April10RSVP so the event organizers know how many people to expect. Snacks will be provided, and K-5 students are welcomed to play games or color in our gym while their guardians enjoy the presentation. Please email Leslie Schuyler at luschuyler@gmail.com if you have questions.
PTSA General Session Meeting, April 22nd, 6:30-8pm, Cafetorium: This in-person meeting is open to all and a great way to stay connected with what’s happening in our community! April’s meeting will include updates from Principal Breuder and PTSA committee members, plus a look-ahead to upcoming events, and budget information. Childcare & snacks will be provided. We hope to see you there!
