All School Announcements

Message from Dr. Breuder:

Native American Heritage Month assembly: This week students participated in an all-school assembly that was led by the ASB Council members.  In this assembly, students learned about why November was chosen for Native American Heritage Month, why it is important, and ways we can take part in Native American Heritage Month in November and throughout the entire year.  Additionally, students learned about the intertribal canoe journey and the Annual Canoe Journey that many Coast Salish tribes participate in every year.  They learned about how the tradition of the Canoe Journey has helped bring back the connections of the indigenous people to one of their oldest cultural practices, using canoes to travel their ancestral waterways.  Thank you to the assembly committee and ASB council for this informative assembly!

  • Thursday, January 22nd @ 9:30am

Attendance:

We wanted to follow up on the attendance policy found here that all families signed at the start of the school year.

Please note that our school year is set up to maximize the number of days in our stated school year. As we start to enter the holiday season, making travel plans that require your child to miss school is disruptive and can make your child fall behind. For older grades it is the responsibility of the student to keep up with their classes, including communicating with teachers, and turning in assignments. Teachers are not required to make accommodations for absences involving extended trips or other planned absence.

Thank you for supporting your child and academics and with their mental health.

Please reference here for more attendance information from the district.

If you do plan to miss 3 or more days, please fill out this form at least three days prior.

Thank you,

Ms. Traci

Volunteering at Hazel Wolf:

Thank you for your continued patience with the new SPS volunteer requirements.  The most updated information we have about this process includes the following:

  1.  Volunteers need to have volunteer clearance paperwork cleared by SPS (including a background check) + attend a Volunteer Orientation.
  2. All Volunteers need to sign into the Verkada kiosk in the main office.  Volunteers will NOT be turned away if names are not in Verkada, however please make sure you have completed all parts in step #1.

Upcoming Volunteer Orientations: Here are the upcoming dates and Teams link:

December 49:30am
January 139:30am

Middle School:

Middle School dance: The first middle school dance was this past Friday.  It was great to see our middle schoolers in a fun social setting! Thank you to the ASB Council and Leadership class for planning such a fun event.  Thanks to the staff chaperones who helped at this event, as well! (The next middle school dance is scheduled for Friday, January 23rd…..mark your calendars! 😊)

Athletics:

Families can now sign up for basketball using FinalForms!

Remember that sports physicals are valid for two years, so if your student completed one recently, it should still be active in the system.

Join the PTSA as a voting member! Everyone – parents, caregivers, extended family, community members – is encouraged to join the PTSA. Membership does NOT commit you to attending meetings or volunteering. Our goal is to have at least one family member join the PTSA for each student, so we can continue to align our budget and initiatives to our community’s needs. https://wspta-02477505.givebacks.com/shop
