Message from Dr. Breuder:
I hope you had a restful holiday. I was able to spend time with family and friends. My family traditions this time of year include sushi and scavenger hunts. We started doing scavenger hunts when the kids were little so they could practice their reading, but as all the kids are teenagers or adults now, we had to be creative and make the scavenger hunts more content-based and much harder. My mom turned 80 this week, so we included a scavenger hunt for her this year. It was WAY too easy, as she went through it incredibly quickly. I enjoyed the down time and even got a couple tasks done in my house that have been on my list for a while. I know the next few weeks before Winter Break are busy, so it was great to take a few moments to just breathe and relax.
Conferences: Thank you for joining us for conferences this last week. We hope the time was valuable and informative.
Middle School families—we sent a survey link last week for feedback about arena conferences. We appreciate all the feedback as we move forward in planning future conferences.
Attendance: Please note that our school year is set up to maximize the number of days in our school year. As we start to enter the holiday season, making travel plans that require your child to miss school is disruptive and can make your child fall behind. It is the responsibility of the student to keep up with their classes, including communicating with teachers and turning in assignments. Teachers are not required to make accommodations for absences involving extended trips or other planned absences. While we understand students could be engaging in enriching activities while on trips, these activities do not take the place of the content and curriculum your child would get at school. Thank you for supporting your child in their academics and with their mental health.
Volunteer Orientation: The next orientation is Monday, December 2nd, at 9:30. This is the only volunteer orientation in December, so please plan accordingly, as there are field trips and class celebrations that will happen in the month of December.

Middle School News:
Lincoln High School Information Night for current 8th graders and their families is January 23rd from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. This event is reserved for our future 9th graders and their families as well as current High School students within our assignment area boundaries. We will be sharing pre-recorded videos on our website with all the pertinent information our future Lynx will need.
The night itself will host a short assembly in the gymnasium followed by an open house in our building with identified areas for each academic program as well as information from student groups, student supports, the Student Based Teen Health Center, athletics and the PTSA.
Parking throughout the neighborhood is limited and we strongly encourage alternate transportation – walk, carpool, bus, etc. or plan your arrival time to allow for walking several blocks. Entrance to the gym is on Woodlawn Avenue.
(Date and Time subject to change)

Both sessions will cover the same information, with limited time for questions afterward.
