Message from Dr. Breuder:

Snow Days and Remote Learning: Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility as we navigated through remote learning days last week.  We recognize that remote learning has many challenges, and we know it is not the optimal learning environment for our students.  That said, we were so impressed with how well students showed up at school (virtually) on those days, and how well they engaged with their learning and with each other.  Seeing Kindergarteners through 8th-graders in virtual meetings brought about a flood of memories of remote learning during COVID.  Despite some challenging flashbacks, it was heartwarming to see students trying their hardest…. teachers trying their hardest….everyone doing their best in those virtual learning spaces.  We know there could be more snow in the future, so we again ask that you give us some grace and space as we do our best with whatever comes our way.

New Tutor: Please welcome Erin Renfro, newly hired tutor at Hazel Wolf.  Erin joins our amazing tutor team (Liz Reed and Deann Muller).  Welcome, Erin!

Multilingual Family Enrollment Night 2025—New DAte

The time for new students to register to attend Hazel Wolf for the 2025-2026 school year is coming up soon!  The window to submit a Choice Form application for an Option School is February 1 through February 28.  We want to reach out and give a special welcome to families who may be new to the country and who speak languages other than English.  Do you or your relatives, neighbors, or friends speak a language other than English and are interested in enrolling at Hazel Wolf?  If you do, contact Rachel Projansky at raprojansky@seattleschools.org and the Multilingual Team will respond.

Multilingual Enrollment Night is Tuesday, February 11th, from 5:30-7:30 in the Hazel Wolf Library. Multilingual families enrolling new students are invited to come to get computer access, help from interpreters, enrollment specialists and staff.

PTSA Announcements and Events

More than 100 families attended our first ever “Ready. Set. Glow!” Dance on January 31st. It was an absolute blast to see all the kids (and grown ups!) having such a fun time dancing together! Huge thanks to our amazing DJ, Henry Vogler, our PTSA event planners—Maia Vogler and Diana Wong—and all the parent volunteers who helped with set up and take down: Andrew Chipperfield, Heather Eliav, Hannah Gelman, Rob Hill, Jenn Johnson-Demel, Chakrya Lim, Amanda Smith, and Erika Trott. Without your help, this uplifting community event would not have been possible.

ADHD Parent Support Group, February 13th, 4-6pm, Library

If you’re a parent or guardian of a student with ADHD, this group meets monthly on the second Thursday and provides education, resources, and support. Have questions or would like more information before attending? Please reach out to Leslie Schuyler at luschuyler@gmail.com.

Family Movie Night, March 14th, 6-8pm, Cafetorium
It’s time for another PTSA-sponsored family movie night! This time we’ll be screening Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Watch the trailer here. Bring blankets and pillows to cozy up on the Cafetorium floor, or low-backed chairs to set up behind. Siblings welcome!

Hazel Wolf Mariners Game, March 30th, 1:10pm, T-Mobile Park
It’s time for another fun afternoon cheering on the  Mariners! 200 seats reserved in the 100 level for $20 each ($2 to the PTSA). Book your tickets here. Questions? Please contact parent volunteer Sabra Warren via sabrahallphoto@gmail.com or 206-931-3613.
