Message from Dr. Breuder
It’s hard to believe it is already March. February flew by! As I write this message, it is one of those beautiful days in the Pacific Northwest. As someone who grew up in the PNW, I do love the cycle of the seasons in Seattle. That said, when the sun comes out, it is a time to drop everything and enjoy it….we’re not sure when it will be back.
Budget/staffing process for 2025-26 school year
This week we received staffing and budget allocations for the 2025-26 school year. These allocations are based on projected enrollment. The projected enrollment numbers are as follows. Given these numbers, we are allocated a certain number of staff (certificated teachers, paraprofessionals, administration, office staff, etc.). We are also allocated a certain number of dollars to budget for the next school year. The budget process is one that is complex and nuanced. Any reductions in staffing will impact the entire school and our programming. We work very hard to utilize what we are allocated to best support our students, school and community.
We also work closely with the PTSA and are so thankful for this partnership. The PTSA General Session on March 18 will include PTSA budget information.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the budget process.

- Maximum scholarship awarded will be $500.
- All camps/programs will be considered, with the exception of those with a religious affiliation.
- Must currently be in grades 4 to 11 in a Seattle school to apply.
- Applications must be submitted by May 2, 2025

You can find an application on the Assistance League of Seattle website
What is the Summer Enrichment Scholarship Program?
We award scholarships of up to $500 (per student) to Seattle schools students currently in grades 4-11 for summer enrichment programs, such as overnight camps and programs and summer classes in music, science, art, sports, and more. We are hoping to reach the students who would most benefit from our scholarships. Last year we helped send 83 Seattle students to summer programs and camps.
Where can the information about this program be found?
- Learn more about the summer enrichment scholarship program.
- More information about all of the Assistance League of Seattle programs.
- You may be familiar with our Operation School Bell program that provides new school clothing to thousands of Seattle school children every year.
How does the application process work?
Students find a summer camp, program, or class they would like to attend. It is the responsibility of the student/family to apply to the program directly and tell the program they have applied for a scholarship from the Assistance League. Applications for our scholarships are evaluated as soon as possible after they are submitted, and recipients are then notified that they have been awarded a scholarship.
When should applications be submitted?
The short and easy answer is: as soon as possible. Many camps and summer programs fill up quickly. Also note that we award the scholarships as the applications come in, but our final deadline for scholarship applications is May 2, 2025.
