PTSA Board Member Expectations
Minimum Expectations for All Board Members:
- Attend one PTSA state or regional leadership training session during the school year
- Attend general membership and board meetings monthly (2 hours/month)
- Respond to board-related emails in between meetings
- Assist executive board members when called upon

Arts Liaison
Minimum Expectations for the Arts Liaison:
- Establish a good relationship with the arts and music teachers in the school (elementary music and art, middle school music, art, and drama). Communicate regularly with them about scheduled events (concerts, plays, etc.) and act as a liaison with the Board for scheduling purposes.
- Communicate with the Arts teachers about their needs- financial, volunteers, coordinated bake sales, and report back to the Board to ensure the teachers have the support they need and the Board has the information it needs to make appropriate funding and scheduling decisions.
- Provide support and direction to the Reflections chair.
- Provide regular status updates to Vice President.
E-STEM Coordinators
Minimum Expectations for the E-STEM Coordinators (this position is ideally split between two people):
- Provide support and direction to the following committees:
- Recycling
- Gardening
- E-STEM Career Day
- Earth Day
- E-STEM Celebration / Science Fair
- Other projects as determined by school E-STEM staff
- Work with School E-STEM Teacher to build community awareness on E-STEM initiatives (Up to 1 hour per week)
- Develop scientific focused relationship with school/community
- Work with Ms. Benita to coordinate E-STEM Career Day
- Provide sustainability support/feedback for all PTSA events to increase sustainability throughout the school community
- Work with the E-STEM leadership team to communicate E-STEM initiatives to our school community and generate support and volunteers as needed
- Review new project proposals to determine which new events and activities should be considered by the board
- Email committee leads weekly to check status on active projects, meet in-person as needed
- Provide regular status updates to President
- Assist committee leads in making sure project deadlines are met
Family Support Coordinator
Minimum Expectations for the Family Support Coordinator:
- Provide support and direction to the following committees:
- Coat Drive
- Winter Hat, Mitten & Sock Drive
- Weekly Backpack Food Program
- Vacation Food Drive
- Work with Counselor(s) and Principal to determine which resources are needed to support Hazel Wolf families
- Review new project proposals to determine which new family support events and activities should be considered by the board
- Email committee leads regularly to check status on active projects, meet in-person as needed
- Provide regular status updates to Vice President
- Assist committee leads in making sure project deadlines are met
Student Extensions Coordinator
Minimum Expectations for the Student Extensions Coordinator (split between two people):
- Provide support and direction to the following committees:
- Spelling Bee
- Literacy Event (Read-In Night)
- Field Day
- Used Book Drive
- Review new project proposals to determine which new student extension events and activities should be considered by the board
- Email committee leads regularly to check status on active projects, meet in-person as needed
- Provide regular status updates to Vice President
- Assist committee leads in making sure project deadlines are met
Vice President of Operations
The Vice President of Operations is an Executive Board position.
Minimum Expectations for All Executive Board Members:
- Attend one PTSA state or regional leadership training session during the school year (at least one executive board member must attend “PTSA and the Law”)
- Attend general membership and board meetings monthly (2 hours/month)
- Participate in regular status meetings with President and Principal (1 hour/month)
- Assist the President when called upon
Minimum Expectations for the VP of Operations:
- Provide support and direction to the following board members:
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Neighborhood Outreach Coordinator
- Marketing and Communications Coordinator
- Family Support Coordinator
- Review all new project proposals and direct to appropriate board member
- Meet with board members on a monthly basis to review status of active projects
- Provide weekly written status report to President
- Assist President in ensuring that all PTSA deadlines are met
- Perform duties of the President if he/she is unable to serve
Volunteer Coordinator
Minimum Expectations for the Volunteer Coordinator:
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for PTSA activities (2 hour per week):
- Post weekly updates to the PTSA Yahoo email list
- Provide office staff weekly volunteer updates for the Weekly Bulletin
- Send out monthly call for volunteers in the PTSA newsletter (Paw Print)
- Keep the Marketing and Communications Coordinator up-to-date on volunteer listings (for placement on website)
- Manage and maintain the Hazel Wolf Volunteer Spot website. Create online sign-ups for various school events.
- Provide regular status updates to VP of Operations.
