Message from Dr. Breuder:
As we bring March to a close, I want to tell you about a couple of things we have been working on as a staff. As you know, Wednesdays are early-release days. Those days are set aside for a number of different opportunities for our staff to collaborate and work together in either teams, professional learning communities, or as an entire staff. This week we participated in a professional development session, Interrupting Hate Speech, which was led by the Hazel Wolf K-8 Racial Equity Team (RET). This was part 3 of a series of sessions. This work is so important as we build a safe learning environment at Hazel Wolf. Our Wolf Pact focuses on us being Curious, Caring, Connected and Supported. Hate speech has no place in our school and in our community, so we want to make sure to have the tools to stop it immediately when it may occur.
Additionally, the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) team has been working with the staff on using school-wide reflections with students across all grades, K-8. This team has done a lot of work in helping us align how we are approaching this important step of reflecting on behaviors and then learning different tools and behavioral skills moving forward. You may have seen a reflection sheet come home or been informed that your child is participating in a reflection with a staff member. This has been an ongoing process with our students and staff as we teach into the Wolf Pact in being a caring and supportive community.
Those are just a few areas of work; stay tuned for more updates!
This week the 5th-graders will head to Nature Bridge for their overnight outdoor education experience. Thanks to the 5th-grade team for all your hard work in getting ready for this trip! We are looking forward to hearing the stories and adventures of their time at Nature Bridge!

Spring Masquerade Auction Recap
We are so grateful to the community for showing up and making the Spring Masquerade a huge success! We raised nearly $50,000 which supports the PTSA programming at Hazel Wolf K8. If you weren’t able to attend or win any silent auction bids, you can still financially support our school with donations (or family/friend donations!) by visiting our givebacks donation page or dropping a check off.

This month we celebrate the Reflection Art Contest participants! Read about them on this month’s PTSA Updates and Events Post. Email communications@hazelwolfk8.org with your child’s moment worth celebrating.

Painting the Hazel Wolf playground, May 31
Join our community this spring as we paint the blacktop and create a brighter, more joyful space together. This project will provide our students with colorful markings for 4 square, hopscotch, a maze, and 2 abstract murals. You do not need to be a registered volunteer for this. Sign up for this exciting painting event!
- Sunday, May 31 at 10am (back up date is Sun. June 7th if rained out)
All materials will be provided!
- Please keep younger children at home, as we will not have the capacity to monitor children around wet paint stations.
