E-STEM Career Day (MS)
Call for presenters: Exciting news – we will return to our in-person E-STEM Career Day this year! Career day will happen on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Students will hear from professionals and academics working in STEM fields, many of whom have an Environmental focus. We’ll need your help though. If you work in a STEM field, consider being a presenter this year. We hope to have people who work with environmental topics, or who engage in environmentally thoughtful practices in your chosen field. But the STEM field is key. If you know anyone else who might be interested, even if they don’t have kids at our school, please have them contact me. Presenters have two 50-minute sessions with about 18 students in each session. The time commitment would be from about 10 AM to about 1PM on Wed, May 17. Contact Joe Fogarty at jcbaileyfogart@seattleschools.org.

Middle School Announcements

Attention 8th grade Students and Families!
Seattle Public Schools high schools will be sending out course registration packets in the beginning of April. On April 21, we will have a transition to high school event during Pack time. Representatives from Nathan Hale, Roosevelt, and Ingraham will meet with our students who are slated to attend those schools. This will be an opportunity for students to learn about their future school and ask question about high school. Please take the time to review the high school course registration information before April 21. If you have questions, please contact our counselor, Ms. Marcu, at kemarcu@seattleschools.org.

Sports Jerseys
All Jerseys need to be returned to Ms. N or the office.

PTSA Sponsored Events

Direct Appeal
Thank you Wolf Pack! With your generosity and support we raised over $50,000 for the 2023 Direct Appeal! Wow, Hazel Wolf would be proud of this community effort! We are so thankful for every one of our donors. Thank you for supporting our school, our teachers, our staff, and our community! The money we raised makes a big impact, supports many important programs at our school, and is more crucial than ever as the district faces a budget shortfall.

A big THANK YOU to all of our sponsors as well, many of which are local businesses run by Hazel Wolf parents, please show them your support when you can. Please reach out to fundraising@hazelwolfk8.org with any questions. Thank you again!

Hazel Wolf K-8 Day at the Mariners
Whether or not you were able to make the game on April 1, we hope you will join other Hazel Wolf families at a Mariners Game Sunday May 7 at 1:10pm. We have 400 tickets reserved. Sign up here: Hazelwolf Goes to the Mariners (fevo.com)

Weekend Backpack Program
Does your student receive a backpack of food each Friday? We have had a number of backpacks coming back to us full the following week. If your student no longer needs a Weekend Food Program backpack, please let us know at familysupport@hazelwolfk8.org and we can take you off the list. You are always welcome to join the program again when needed! Backpacks (full or empty) can be returned to the bin in the front office each week so we can reuse them. Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Join the Racial Equity Committee (REC)
Our goals are focused on helping students and families of color and those who are furthest from educational justice (intersectionality with race, ability, language, gender, socio-economic status, etc). We are open to all families joining and we prioritize Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) for the committee.

With this help we can continue to support Student Affinity Groups, host listening sessions for BIPOC, work with PTSA and school staff to advocate for racial equity practices in our school, and more! To learn more or join the REC, email ptsa_rec@hazelwolfk8.org.

Do you love enjoying and or building community
Are you interested in becoming more involved with the school? Please consider joining a PTSA board meeting on April 19, May 31 or June 14. If you would like to join please reach out to Christa Kleiner president@hazelwolfk8.org.

We are still recruiting for a Vice President and Secretary. We are also recruiting for a social events coordinator for next year. Please join us!
