Message from Dr. Breuder:

Happy Birthday, Hazel Wolf! March 10th is Hazel Wolf’s birthday.  The E-STEM committee put together opportunities this week for students to celebrate and learn more about Hazel Wolf.  Ask your child more about what he/she/they have learned about Hazel Wolf this week!

Budget/staffing: We are in the midst of working through our budget and staffing process for next year.  We received our allocations at the end of February, which included reductions in staffing  and also reductions in dollars.  The staff and BLT (Building Leadership Team) are working through this process.

Lost and Found is once again overflowing!  Please come by and look for your child’s items.

Order your 2023-24 Hazel Wolf K-8 Yearbook: Students who order a yearbook by May 15 will receive their yearbook at school with their classmates. Order your 52-page full color book of special memories now through May 15 here:  https://shop.yearbookmarket.com/hazelwolfk8

Middle School:

Spring Sports Alert: Spring sports start this week on Thursday March 14th. There will be co-ed track, boys’ soccer, and girls’ volleyball. Games and Meets will be held on Saturdays, but we do not have game/meet schedules at this time. All practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so it is not possible to do more than more sport.

Co-ed Track: Coach Kristen will be returning for Track. We are looking for a parent to help run logistics. If you are available to help her, please reach out to Kristen at kristenschriver@mac.com

Boys Soccer: Coach K will be returning for soccer. Soccer Practices start in the back parking lot of Hazel Wolf at 3:35. The boys will run to North Acres Park to have practice until 5:30pm. You can pick up your soccer player from North Acres Park at 5:30.

Girls Volleyball: will only happen if we can find a coach. If we can find a coach, practices will be in the Hazel Wolf Gym until 5:15pm.

Spring Ultimate:   Ultimate frisbee is underway. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.  Students will need to sign up through DiscNW in order to play. All middle school grades and skill levels are encouraged to check out this fantastic sport.  Email Coach Lars if interested Lars Boettcher larspboettcher15@gmail.com

PTSA Announcements and Events

Spring Fling Success: Our school community asked for an in-person party, the PTSA listened, and Spring Fling was born! Whether you bought tickets, donated a dessert, or volunteered behind the scenes to help make it happen, we can’t thank you enough for your contribution and participation. The event exceeded both our expectations AND our fundraising goal, raising more than $25,000!

Enjoy a recap and photos from the evening on our blog: https://hazelwolfk8.org/2024/03/07/spring-fling-recap/

Brunch Fundraiser, March 16th: We’re so thankful for Craig Perez, a 4th grader parent and co-owner of historic Seattle restaurant and bar, the Virginia Inn. On Saturday, March 16th, Craig and his team are generously donating 50% of the Inn’s proceeds to our PTSA. Please go enjoy an amazing brunch, lunch or drink – maybe make a day of it and enjoy a visit to Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Science Center, or the Olympic Sculpture Park! Hazel Wolf Family Mariners Night at T-Mobile Park is Saturday April 27th at 6pm.  We have 300 tickets reserved in the 300 level & 200 tickets reserved in the 100 level.  Tickets are $12 or $20 depending on which section you pick, and both tickets include $2 for the PTSA.
