Message from Dr. Breuder:

It was so great to see many of you at the Hazel Wolf Spring Fling this weekend! We are so thankful for the partnership and support the PTSA provides the school.  Our budget and staffing allocations came out last week, and we are in a place where we have to make some hard decisions about next year.  We received 25% less in dollar allocations for next year, and we also have a slight reduction in staffing for next year.  While we work through this as a staff and as a community, we are so grateful for the continued support of the Hazel Wolf PTSA.  Thank you.

Last week was a busy week at Hazel Wolf.  Students in K-5, along with the Middle School drama class, participated in a residency with Seattle Opera, which culminated in an assembly on Friday (Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers).  Middle School students viewed a documentary, Dark Girls, and engaged in rich discission with peers and staff.  All students participated in Buddy Day on Friday, which is always such a fun way to make connections and build relationships across our K-8 school.

This week is also gearing up to be another busy week, finishing on Friday with Black History Month assemblies presented by our ASB Council.

Middle School:

Shoe request: Ms. Nelson is collecting new and gently used athletic shoes of all sizes! There is an uptick in students that need athletic shoes to participate in PE this semester. If you or your family have any shoes with laces that work for general running and exercise that you would like to donate, please bring them to Ms. Nelson in the gym. If your family needs a pair of shoes, please contact Ms. Nelson to come take a look at the selection. panelson@seattleschools.org

Spring Ultimate:   Middle schoolers interested in playing ultimate frisbee (or have questions about the game) should email Lars Boettcher larspboettcher15@gmail.com.  Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays starting February 27th.  Students will need to sign up through DiscNW in order to play. All middle school grades and skill levels are encouraged to check out this fantastic sport.
