All School Announcements

Message from the Office: When you need to pick up your students early from school for an appointment or early-release, please allow at least 10 minutes for us to locate your student and get them to the office. To ensure that they miss minimal class time, we will not be pulling kids in preparation for your arrival.

Message from Dr. Breuder:

We had a great first full week of school last week, and our school community feels complete with the arrival of our Kindergarteners! Over the last ten days, we have had three assemblies (Middle School, grades 3-5, and grades K-2).  The focus of these assemblies was how we are Curious, Caring, Connected, and Supported at Hazel Wolf.  Each class has had discussions about what it looks like to exemplify each of these traits, then we followed it up at each of the assemblies.  We will continue to focus on these traits in our monthly assemblies and in our classrooms.

Middle School Athletics (6-8th grade only)

Girls Soccer and Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee:

Thank you for getting all of your paperwork done last week. The coaches will have an updated list on who still needs to turn in paperwork and fees at practice on Tuesday. The first games will be this Saturday, so students are expected to have their Grade Checks turned into Ms. Nelson by Wednesday 3:30pm. Both teams will have a meeting before practice, in the gym Tuesday, to go over Grade Check expectations.

If you still need to pay for either Girls Soccer or Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee here are the links:

Pay Ultimate Frisbee Fee via SchoolPay

Pay Girls Soccer Fee via SchoolPay

Volunteering at Hazel Wolf: Thank you to those who attended the Volunteer Orientation last week.  It was great to see many faces of our volunteers.  I have added some dates/times for the Volunteer Orientations, one of which is this Monday, September 18th<, at 5:00pm on Teams.  Join HWK8 Volunteer Orientation Meeting

School Nurse: Please welcome our new school nurse, Marissa Vaternick.  Ms. Vaternick is at Hazel Wolf on Mondays-Thursdays.  If you need to contact her directly, please email her at mmvaternick@seattleschools.org, or call the nurse’s office at 206-252-4617.

School Social Worker: Please welcome our new Social Worker, Miranda Sullivan.  Ms. Sullivan splits her time between Hazel Wolf and Broadview Thomson, so she is at Hazel Wolf on Thursdays, Fridays, and every other Wednesday.  You can contact Ms. Sullivan directly at misullivan@seattleschools.org, or 206-252-4139.

Arrival:

8:50am is when school starts: At the first bell (8:50am), all students will move to start their day.

  • Middle Schoolers enter the building.
  • K-5 students go to their lines, where teachers will meet them and bring classes into the building.

As we continue to help keep our community safe during drop-off, please help follow these guidelines.  8:35am is when we have supervision outside at Hazel Wolf.  Please do not drop off students before that time.

Flow of Traffic: Please note that drop-offs should happen on 12th Avenue, a one-way street for drop-off.  Traffic flow moves along 12th Ave., then turns onto 117th to exit to Pinehurst.  Please do not try to go against this flow of traffic, as this creates a safety hazard for our community members.  Safety Patrol will be on duty starting next week, so look for these student leaders helping keep our streets and sidewalks safe!
