All School Announcements

Message from Dr. Breuder:

It’s been a busy week at Hazel Wolf! Students and staff are settling into routines and digging into content and curriculum. We are enjoying seeing students engaging in learning in all spaces of the school.

  • E-Stem Storyline: Hazel Wolf K-8 is proud to be an E-Stem school. If you haven’t seen the E-Stem Storyline, please look at the school website for this information. Our staff is committed to connecting our work to the storyline, which includes our many overnight outdoor education programs, field trips, and in-class learning. This week in our staff meeting, the third-grade team shared some of their work that connects to the storyline. Mr. Fogarty, our E-Stem Coordinator, also presented the overarching E-Stem work and goals for the year, which includes creating an E-Stem committee. Stay tuned for more information about E-Stem work at Hazel Wolf K-8!
  • MAP testing: The testing window for MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) begins October 4th and goes to October 25th. Grades 1-8 will take the MAP test during that testing window. We recognize that this district-required standardized test is just one assessment that is used when we are looking at student data. There are many other tools we use when measuring academic progress at Hazel Wolf. Teachers will send out grade-level testing schedules, so please look for that information to come from your child’s teacher.
  • Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month: September 15-October 15 is National Hispanic American (Latinx) Heritage Month. This helps us recognize the many contributions and influences LatinX Americans have on our country’s history, culture and achievements. The LatinX community is a hugely diverse group, and the LatinX/Hispanic community includes 23 countries that are made up of different holidays, celebrations, cultures and races. Many LatinX countries all celebrate their independence days in September. We also want to acknowledge and recognize our Afro-LatinX population and their continued contributions to our thriving communities.
  • I’m attaching some links for you and your family to learn more and to celebrate this month and throughout the year.

Message from Mr. Smith:
Are your students interested in skiing or snowboarding this winter? If so, please join us for our online information session on Wednesday, October 18th at 6:00pm. We’ll be going over both programs and answering questions via Teams. The programs we offer are for the following groups:

  • Wednesday evenings (K-8th grades)
  • Friday nights (5th-8th grades)
